Sor’s Six Valses op. 44 bis for two guitars were published in Paris in 1831 and dedicated to “Mademoiselle Lira”, presumably the daughter of José de Lira, a Spaniard living in Paris and a friend of Sor. The original title was Six valses pour deux guitares faciles et progressives et soigneusement doigtées (Six waltzes for two guitars, easy, progressive and carefully fingered).
