Mauro Giuliani’s Sei Ariette op. 95 are six fine Italian songs for voice and guitar or piano, presented here as a facsimile of the first edition. Very clear to read for performance.

32 pages.  1987, reprinted with minor changes 2004.

All the poems are on the theme of love. The guitar parts are fairly interesting and not very difficult.  The songs are in general longer and more developed than the Sei Cavatine op. 39.

English prose translations are provided.

The six songs are:

  1. Ombre amene (e to f’ sharp)
  2. Fra tutte le pene (e to a”) (with an optional high c”!)
  3. Quando sarà quel dì (d to g’ sharp)
  4. Le dimore amor non ama (e to a”)
  5. Ad altro laccio (d to a”)
  6. Di due bell’anime (e to a”)

Ranges: The songs will suit a tenor or soprano as they go up to f’ or g’ or a”.  The exact ranges are indicated above as follows:
a, b, c, and so on up to g: this means from the a four notes below the treble stave, up to the g which is on the second line of the treble stave.
a’, b’, c’, and so on up to g’: this means from the a which is on the second space of the treble stave, up to the g which is on the space just above the treble stave.
a”, b”, c”, and so on: this means from the a which is on the line immediately above the treble stave, upwards.
