Mauro Giuliani’s Sechs Lieder op. 89, as a printed item

Mauro Giuliani’s Sechs Lieder op. 89 for voice and guitar or piano are six fine German songs by Giuliani. A facsimile of the first edition. Very clear for performance.  With a preface by Thomas F. Heck. Now in its third printing from Tecla Editions.

24 pages.  1976, reprinted with minor changes 1987, reprinted 2004.

All the poems are on the theme of love.  The guitar parts are fairly interesting and not very difficult.

English prose translations are provided.

The six songs are:

1. Abschied (Zu lieblich ist’s, ein Wort zu brechen) (d to f’)
2. Lied aus der Ferne (Wenn in des Abends letztem Scheine) (d sharp to g’)
3. Abschied (Lebe wohl, o mütterliche Erde) (d to f’ sharp)
4. Lied (Wir giengen beide Hand in Hand) (d to g’)
5. Ständchen (Alles ruht wie abgeschieden) (e to f’ sharp)
6. An das Schicksal (Höre Schicksal, was ich heische) (d to e’)

Ranges: The songs will suit a tenor or soprano as they go up to e’ or f’ or g’.  The exact ranges are indicated above as follows:
a, b, c, and so on up to g: this means from the a four notes below the treble stave, up to the g which is on the second line of the treble stave.
a’, b’, c’, and so on up to g’: this means from the a which is on the second space of the treble stave, up to the g which is on the space just above the treble stave.
a”, b”, c”, and so on: this means from the a which is on the line immediately above the treble stave, upwards.
