Mauro Giuliani’s Duo Concertant for violin and guitar, op. 25, is here presented in a new modern re-engraved edition, score and parts, ready for performance, urtext and authentic, based strictly on the original editions with no modern elements or fingering introduced.
This Duo Concertant is technically demanding for both players. We know that Giuliani and the violinist Mayseder performed together in concerts, and perhaps this was one of the works which they played. This Duo Concertant was first published in Vienna in about 1812.
There are four movements: Maestoso, Theme and six variations, Minuet and trio, and Rondo allegretto.
